Slideshows that keep time.

A native Mac slideshow app built on Metal. Sixty frames a second with forty full-resolution photos loaded, motion that knows where the faces are, and transitions that land on the beat of the music.

Where it stands

In progress, and already used for real shows. The engine, the timeline, the music sync and H.264 export all work; the editing surface around them is what's being finished.

What it does

On the beatDetects the tempo of your music and retimes the show so transitions land on the beat — including music that doesn't keep a steady one, like solo piano.
Face-aware motionKen Burns that pans and zooms around the people in the frame instead of the middle of the rectangle.
Auto-curatePoint it at a folder of several hundred and it picks the sharp, well-composed ones, spread evenly across the day rather than clustered on the good ten minutes.
Your real photosHEIC, JPEG, TIFF, PNG and raw from Nikon, Canon, Sony, Fujifilm, Olympus, Panasonic and iPhone ProRAW. Sorted by when they were taken, not when they were copied.
ExportH.264 with the audio muxed in, trimmed and faded to the length of the show.
Bought, not rentedA perpetual licence. The version you buy keeps working.

Why it exists

FotoMagico proved the idea and then moved to a subscription. This is the same job done natively, with the two things that were always missing: motion that understands the photograph, and timing that understands the music.
